Feeding Westchester Welcomes New Board Members
Feeding Westchester, Westchester County’s primary food bank, is pleased to announce two new members to its board. The organization, with a mission “to nourish our neighbors in the fight against hunger”, provides nutritious food to a hunger-relief network of nearly 300 partners and programs covering the Westchester community. Feeding Westchester’s volunteer board, which draws from Westchester County’s brightest leaders, helps further the organization’s strategy, mission and goals.
Below are profiles of Gary Cohen and Danielle DeMaio, who recently joined the board:
Gary Cohen
With nearly four decades of executive leadership in the technology and telecommunications industries, Gary Cohen spent more than 35 years at IBM Corporation, where he held various senior roles including General Manager of the Global Communications Sector, Chairman of IBM Africa, Vice President Strategy and Global Alliances Executive Leader. During his tenure, he oversaw strategic growth of IBM’s businesses worldwide, spearheading major expansions in China, India, and Africa.
Gary also served as Chief Operating Officer at Global Crossing Ltd. He currently chairs the Board of Advisors at Carbon Group Global. Currently serving on the Board of Trustees and Finance and Audit Committees at Northwell, Gary also has been the chair of the Community Board at Northern Westchester Hospital and is a member of the Global Advisory Councils for the African Leadership University and African Leadership Academy. Additionally, he serves as a Director and Treasurer of the Gift of Hope USA, a non-profit organization supporting women and children affected by HIV/AIDS.
Gary holds an MBA in Finance from New York University and a BS in Economics and Psychology from Union College. He resides in Westchester County, NY, with his wife Lauren who is the Founder and President of Gift of Hope USA. They have two grown children and four grandchildren.
Danielle DeMaio
Born and raised in Westchester, Danielle returned to her hometown of Edgemont in 2012 with her husband and two sons in tow. Since then, she has been active in the community in many ways: as a volunteer in the PTA, a member of the School Board Nominating Committee, a member of the Board of the Edgemont School Foundation and the Cotswold Neighborhood Association. Most significantly, she has been involved with Impact100 Westchester for many years and held several roles in the organization, most recently Co-President. She serves on the boards of Impact100 Westchester and the Cornell University College of Human Ecology Alumni Association.
Danielle’s interest in philanthropy began when she volunteered as a mentor to an at-risk high school student with Student Sponsor Partners. Danielle started her professional career in Management Consulting with Price Waterhouse and moved on to Investment Banking with DLJ and Credit Suisse after earning an MBA from Columbia Business School. She also holds a BS in Policy Analysis from Cornell University.

In fiscal year 2023, Feeding Westchester distributed more than 21 million pounds of food, equivalent to more than 17 million meals through soup kitchens, food pantries, schools, shelters, residential programs, and mobile distributions. That served an average of 220,000 neighbor visits – including visits from children, seniors, veterans, and hardworking families – every month. The nonprofit, a 4-star Charity Navigator organization, is committed to creating a community where all people have access to the food they need today, and the fundamental resources to build a better tomorrow.
