Not just partners for life, but also colleagues—that’s what makes Juli and Greg’s marriage uniquely special.
Juli, the Administrative Assistant for Operations and a Notary Public for the organization, and Greg, the Manager of Operations and Facilities, are essential to the success of Feeding Westchester’s Operations team.
For Juli, that means handling everything administrative—from keeping the electricity on to coordinating compliance with the AIB audit.
Greg ensures that the building runs smoothly, leads produce purchasing at Hunts Point Produce Market, and even supports security efforts.
Juli, who joined Feeding Westchester seven years ago, and Greg, who began ten years ago, have been part of the organization’s journey through a period of significant growth and expansion.
Speaking about the early days, Greg shared, “We were so much smaller then—there were a total of five trucks at the time. We are currently running 11.”
With years of experience, Juli and Greg have been through a great deal at Feeding Westchester—including navigating the challenges of a global pandemic.
Ten-hour workdays became the norm for the couple during COVID. As essential workers, the operations team was the only one in the office every day.
Juli put the reality of that time quite clearly: “You didn’t know what the next day was going to bring. We had so many people come to the door…we saw a lot of people suffering.”
Still, the Feeding Westchester team stood together. “We were in this together—everybody was one entity. We just all needed help from each other,” said Juli.
During that time, they weren’t alone. “We even had the National Guard here…there were a lot of them.”
This experience sparked Juli’s purpose even further. “I was invigorated because it just made my purpose that much more important and drove me.”
And Juli and Greg’s impact went far beyond just Westchester.
“There was one time when we were driving the van up in Dutchess—two counties away—and it was when Feeding Westchester was becoming more known. As we passed by, a little girl saw our emblem and popped her head out the window throwing up rock and roll hands. She recognized us, which was amazing. In that moment, we kind of felt like rock stars.”
Their commitment is shown in many ways—one being the hour-long commute they make every day.
“It speaks volumes about how happy we are here, and just seeing how everything’s grown…there’s a reason why we commute an hour a day. We wouldn’t change it for the world.”
Their commitment to Feeding Westchester is clear—but their story together began long before their time at the organization.
Greg recalls the start of their story: “We pretty much grew up together…I was 17 when we met. It’s going to be 20 years.”
What started as a teenage love story has grown into a shared passion for purpose-driven work.
And the biggest reason they are so dedicated to this mission is simple: the people.
“It’s the good people it attracts, being able to help people…you can really see what people get when they help people…this is legitimately a work family.”
Their job brings them belonging, joy, and a sense of family.
“Somebody’s always got your back…I wouldn’t trade it for the world.”
Greg and Juli’s commitment extends far beyond a 9-to-5. It’s deeply rooted in who they are—and in who they are together.
