During the holiday season, Feeding Westchester issued an open invitation to faith communities across the county: come together and help nourish neighbors in need. The response was powerful.

Through an initiative called Faith Feeds Westchester, religious organizations of many traditions connected to explore how they could collectively make an impact. The conversations were simple but meaningful — how can we show up, together, during a season that calls us to service?

One answer quickly became clear: Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Recognized as a National Day of Service, MLK Day offered the perfect opportunity to turn shared values into action. On that day, faith communities united around a common purpose, setting aside differences to focus on what connected them — compassion, dignity, and care for neighbors.

Nearly 50 volunteers from different faith backgrounds came together at Feeding Westchester. They volunteered side by side, helped support food distribution efforts, and raised critical funds to ensure families across Westchester had access to nutritious food.

What made the day especially meaningful was the spirit of unity. Volunteers arrived representing different beliefs, but worked as one team, driven by the same goal: to nourish neighbors and honor Dr. King’s legacy through service.

Faith Feeds Westchester showed what is possible when communities come together across lines of difference. It was not just a day of volunteering — it was a reminder that hunger relief is strongest when rooted in shared humanity.

Feeding Westchester is deeply grateful to every faith organization and volunteer who participated. Together, they proved that when we unite in service, we can build a stronger, more compassionate Westchester for all.
