To observe your community, recognize a need, and act—that’s what it means to be a trusted neighbor.
As a Port Chester resident and Port Chester Middle School alum, Zeltzyn understands that responsibility firsthand. She’s seen the beauty of her neighborhood, but also the real struggles that many of her neighbors face every day.
That’s why she’s on a mission—not just to give back, but to build understanding and empathy for why people may need support.
“I have a really deep tie to the community because I’ve done a lot of community organizing work. I’ve learned to understand the issues that families are facing that lead them to need services.”
Zeltzyn believes that when there’s understanding, there’s compassion—and when there’s compassion, service becomes intentional.
Through her work, she’s come to see that food insecurity is just one part of a much larger picture.
“It’s also about housing insecurity, not being able to pay Con Edison, having family issues without the real resources we need.”
That’s where Feeding Westchester steps in—providing the support and resources that help neighbors not just get by, but thrive.
We know that our impact is only possible through partnerships with local pantries, volunteers, and advocates like Zeltzyn—neighbors helping neighbors.
“It’s important that we come together, helping each other out when we can.”
For Zeltzyn, showing up for her community is second nature.
“I’ve been volunteering my whole life, so being a part of service and contributing wherever I can has always come naturally to me.”
But her passion goes deeper than providing a meal.
“Because so many people are living on or below the poverty line, it’s very important that we have access to food. But beyond just food access, it’s also important that people know about nutrition insecurity.”
She adds:
“It’s not just about giving people something to eat one day. It’s about feeding them in ways that nourish growth and support healthy lives.”
Thanks to Zeltzyn’s dedication, the Port Chester community is stronger, more connected, and more resilient.
Her story reminds us: behind every need is a why. And when we understand that why, we’re one step closer to lasting change.
