At this year’s SOUPer Bowl, our neighbors won big.
Students across Westchester came together with one goal in mind: to help nourish families in need. What started as a friendly competition quickly became a powerful example of leadership, teamwork, and community spirit.
Students from Stepinac High School led the charge, collecting nearly 6,000 pounds of food and helping load thousands of pounds onto a truck headed straight to Westchester families. Their energy and commitment set the tone for the entire drive.

They were joined by Todd Elementary School, Church Street Elementary School, and Alice E. Grady Elementary School — each bringing their own enthusiasm and generosity to the effort.
Together, these schools collected an incredible 8,126 pounds of food to support neighbors across the county:
Stepinac High School: 5,918 pounds
Alice E. Grady Elementary School: 1,420 pounds
Todd Elementary School: 488 pounds
Church Street Elementary School: 300 pounds
Local media took notice of the impact as well. As highlighted by News 12 Westchester’s coverage of the SOUPer Bowl, the broader community rallied in a big way, bringing in close to 10,000 pounds of food for families in need.
Every can, every box, every donation represents a family who will have food on the table because students chose to act.
Beyond the pounds collected, the SOUPer Bowl demonstrates something even more powerful: young people leading with compassion. From organizing collections to lifting and loading food, these students showed what it means to turn competition into community impact.
That’s what teamwork looks like.
That’s what leadership looks like.
And because of them, thousands of pounds of food are already making their way to families who need it most.
