It’s the time of year when many are looking to form new habits and become the best versions of themselves. As the new year gets started, it’s easy to get wrapped up in the typical resolutions, from drinking more water to committing to the gym.
Why not take a different route and commit to making an impact on your Westchester community?
When the pandemic began, Feeding Westchester designed Help from Home bags, which have aided us in serving our neighbors in need during lockdowns and social-distancing mandates.
Help from Home was created to be:
Each Help from Home bag includes seasonal meals and food items which go directly to local families through our food distribution network. The current items needed can be found here.
For some, thoughts of donations and volunteering are left largely to the last few months of the year as Thanksgiving food collections and Christmas toy drives are everywhere. It’s easy to move on once the new year gets going, but the need for supplies does not diminish along with the change in the calendar.
2022 brings unexpected challenges and excitement for all, especially as many people remain concerned about the pandemic and the effect it has had on the state of normalcy over the past few years.
Giving back to the community with a project like Help from Home is a great way to have a tangible impact and reframe thoughts and aspirations in the next few months.
Rather than feel stuck as we face another year of unknown circumstances, find ways to better both yourself and your neighbors in 2022. This past holiday season, the Westchester community has passionately showed their support, and we know that we can work together this year to continue our fight against hunger.
