Donating food

Food donations and food drives have an immediate impact by providing meals for those in need, and are a great activity for the community to do together.

Host a food drive, or donate food

We are so grateful to accept non-perishable food items, whether individual donations or the result of a larger food drive.

You are welcome to drop off your donations in the food collection bins located outside our Volunteer Entrance at: 200 Clearbrook Road, Elmsford, NY 10523. Donations can be dropped off Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

When looking for food to donate, please keep the following guidelines in mind: Non-perishable items only; no fresh produce, prepared foods, refrigerated, or frozen items.

Donation Guidelines

  • No glass containers
  • No pre-opened items
  • No items past date printed on label
  • Look for labels that list the following:
    • Low sodium
    • No sugar added
    • Reduced sodium
    • Items marked “Lite”
    • No salt added
    • Unsweetened
    • 100% fruit juice

Host a Food Drive

Hosting a food drive is simple and only takes a few steps. Here are some helpful tips for planning and holding your food drive.

Decide on your drive

Before you organize, decide what type of drive you’d like to host. Will you be collecting food, funds, or both? You can start your fundraiser here.

Select dates

Select dates to begin and end your food drive: Food drives can last however long you’d like, but we recommend running your drive for at least two weeks.

Register

After you’ve decided on the type of food drive and have preselected the dates, you’re ready to register your food drive.

Most-needed items

Share the list of our most-needed items with your friends, family, colleagues, and social networks, along with instructions for dropping off their donations. You can collect food in any box available to you. Copy paper boxes are great for collections as they are sturdy, hold approximately 40 lbs. of food, and often come with lids.

Deliver donations

Once your collection is over, please drop off your food donations to Feeding Westchester, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., at: 200 Clearbrook Road | Elmsford, NY 10523.

There is a food collection bin outside of our Volunteer Entrance where you can place your donations. If you need a receipt for your collection, please be sure to schedule your delivery so that we can arrange to have someone meet you, help you unload, and weigh the food you collected.

People like you are essential to our mission of nourishing our neighbors in the fight against hunger.

As individuals, community groups, businesses and government, we all have a role to play in helping one another, especially when it comes to alleviating hunger. We want to make it easy for you to raise funds and awareness in your own way by giving you the best tools to do so.

You will not only provide critical funds to help alleviate hunger, but you will also create awareness for the ever-important issue of food insecurity. It’s just another way we—together—can help your neighbors in need.

Crocs Cares

This is our second annual register campaign with Crocs. In 2021, the Crocs campaign raised over $2.1M and we are thrilled to work with them for another year. Crocs is proud to be a national partner of Feeding America and has seen the power of our organization when we come together for good. This is the next step in their journey to continue to do the right thing, and they know that through this partnership they will be able to make a meaningful impact to those who need it most in our local communities.
