Matching Wednesday: A Simple Way to Multiply Your Support

Many employers will double or even triple your Giving Tuesday gift — and it only takes 30 seconds to check. Matching Wednesday helps your support go even further for the 1 in 3 Westchester households at risk of hunger. Learn how to see if your gift qualifies and how matched donations help nourish more neighbors across our community.

If you donated on Giving Tuesday, your employer may double or even triple your gift today.

Giving Tuesday may be behind us, but the impact of your generosity does not need to stop. Matching Wednesday is one of the simplest and most meaningful ways to multiply your Giving Tuesday gift — without spending anything extra.

If you donated yesterday or at any point this year, there is a strong chance your employer will match your contribution. For example, if you gave $25 and your employer matches at a 1:1 rate, your gift immediately becomes $50. Yet millions of match-eligible dollars go unused each year simply because donors do not realize this benefit exists. Matching Wednesday helps ensure no contribution is left unmatched.

How Matching Translates Into Meals

At Feeding Westchester:

  • $1 helps provide 2 meals — and a match turns it into 4 meals

  • A matched $25 gift becomes $50, helping provide 100 meals

  • A matched $50 gift becomes $100, helping provide 200 meals

  • A $150 gift provides 300 meals, and a match turns it into 600 meals

Matched gifts mean twice the meals, twice the support, and twice the hope for the 1 in 3 Westchester households at risk of hunger. A quick, 30-second search can unlock additional support that brings fresh produce, proteins, and essential groceries to neighbors across the county.

Why Matching Gifts Matter Right Now

As shared in our most recent Hunger Report, the need across Westchester continues to grow:

  • 1 in 3 households are at risk of hunger

  • 235,000 residents visit a pantry each month

  • 74,000 neighbors rely on SNAP

  • 44% of adults have skipped a meal because they worry about running out of food

With grocery costs rising and federal safety nets shrinking, matching gifts help ensure your support goes even further — at a time when families, children, and seniors need it most.

Didn’t Give on Giving Tuesday? You Still Can — and Your Gift May Still Be Matched

You can make a gift today, tomorrow, or any time before December 31. Many employers offer grace periods of up to 90 days, meaning year-end donations may still qualify for matching in early 2026. (Check with your employer for details.)
