Elmsford, N.Y. (October 28, 2022) – Feeding Westchester, Westchester County’s nonprofit hunger-relief organization, is pleased to announce the addition of Dara Gruenberg, Heberto Calves, and Vinay Rao to their Board of Directors.
Dara Gruenberg
Dara Broxmeyer Gruenberg dedicates much of her time to the service to others. Dara serves as President of the Friends of the Scarsdale Library and was Co-Chair of the Library’s recent Capital Campaign. She is the Chair of Scarsdale Village’s Advisory Council on Communications and a member of the Village Board of Ethics. She is also a Vice Chair of the Foundation Board at White Plains Hospital and a Vice President at Westchester Reform Temple. Additionally, in recent years, Dara has served as a board member of the Scarsdale Forum and the League of Women Voters Scarsdale as well as a member of the Scarsdale Bowl Committee.
During the pandemic, Dara spearheaded several targeted initiatives, helping raise $10M for a rapid-response COVID relief campaign for WPH. She was creative in harnessing critical PPE to frontline workers and lifted spirits by organizing meal donations and expressions of community gratitude. The responsibility and energy with which Dara approaches her appointments and positions earns her the respect and admiration of the organizations and community she serves. Dara received the 2018 Scarsdale Family Counseling Rising Star Award in recognition of her leadership and volunteerism. In 2021, New York State Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins selected Dara as one of her three Women’s History Month honorees.
Dara holds a BA in Classics from Barnard College and earned a M.S.Ed in Educational Leadership from Bank Street College. She taught Middle and Upper School Latin was the Assistant Director of Admissions and served as the Director of Community Service at an independent school in NYC.
Dara lives in Scarsdale with her husband, Jon, and their two children, Cornelia and Jake.
Heberto (Herbie) Calves
Heberto (Herbie) Calves is CEO and Board Director at Fresh Health, a Series B company backed by Khosla Ventures, Global Asset Capital and Delta Dental of Colorado. Prior to Fresh, Herbie was the President of Connected Fitness at The Beachbody Company. Herbie joined Beachbody following the company’s merger with Myx Fitness where he was the Co-founder and President. He spent the prior three years as the Co-founder and CMO of LINK AKC, a pet technology start-up, where he helped take the business from concept to market leader and acquisition. Prior to LINK AKC, Herbie served as a senior marketing leader at Luxottica and helped lead the transformation of the $1.2B LensCrafters business to a modern digital marketing retailer.
From 2006-2012, Herbie was VP of Global Marketing and Product Management at TIMEX. He led explosive growth on the IRONMAN and EXPEDITION businesses and was responsible for product management, sports technology development, partnerships and built Timex’s digital presence across North America, EMEA, LatAm, Australia, and Japan.
Prior to this, Mr. Calves spent over 15 years building and managing brands such as Advil, Coca-Cola, BellSouth International, Woolite, Lysol, and Kiss My Face. Herbie currently serves on the board of ComPETibility, Inc. and the business advisory board of The Korey Stringer Institute at The University of Connecticut.
Herbie is a native of the Bronx and a first generation Cuban-American. He graduated with a BBA from The University of Notre Dame and an MBA with an International focus from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School. He is passionate about environmental, health and wellness issues and has completed scores of running and cycling events including Ironman Lake Placid and many Half-Ironman races and marathons. Herbie lives in Westchester County, NY with his wife, his youngest of three children (who is off to college in August) and dog, Casper.
Vinay Rao
Vinay Rao is a Managing Director in Deloitte’s Global Risk Advisory practice. He has over 25 years of experience in Business Transformation, working extensively across the Americas, Europe, and Asia Pacific regions, focused on helping transform how they provide professional services to their clients. Vinay also serves on the Deloitte Global Diversity Equity & Inclusion Council which advises the Firm on all aspects of its DE&I strategy. He has a B.S. degree in Management from Indiana University and an MBA in Strategy & Finance from Georgetown University.

With a mission to nourish their neighbors in the fight against hunger, the organization sources and distributes good, nutritious food and other resources to wherever it is needed most.
